The instructor interacts with each student and gets to know the students really well. As a result, the interaction addresses each individual's learning needs. Depending on the actual class, here are examples of skills that we teach:
The instructor is available for updates about a student's progress or for future work recommendations. The instructor knows the student well enough to be able to provide upon request letters of recommendation for other high level mathematical activities such as "Awesome Math."
Unlike most classes, which address a purpose, our classes address the student. Because we offer a backbone of continuous mathematical growth and practice, parents can be assured that instruction is not random, but follows a plan that does not leave 'gaps' in knowledge and understanding.
We are told by students that our classes are interesting and fun to be in. We did not do this by design, but it looks like we are able to communicate enthusiasm and generate interest.
We aim to direct instruction at the future, not the present, needs of the student. Classes for grades 5-6 generally prepare for AMC 8. Classes for grades 7-8 generally prepare for AMC 10. Please register at the student's current school grade! Our materials explore the full depth of the concepts specific to each grade and are, by far, much more challenging than standard school materials.
The class is run as follows:
We now have the ability to offer the first class to any course free of charge. Just register to receive a ticket for free attendance. Both parent and student may attend and make an informed decision before purchasing a class.
