The fine print follows. Basically, the agreement states two things: to protect us, we do not guarantee that we will be able to serve every customer. A variety of technological hurdles affect our ability to deliver classes, and some percentage of customers do not manage to get the software working. But, to protect you, the agreement states that you are entitled to a suitable refund in virtually all reasonable circumstances.

By placing an order for essay grading with Goods of the Mind, LLC ("GOTM"), you ("the Customer") agree that the Customer will pay to GOTM the agreed-upon price of essay grading in exchange for GOTM to provide the Customer with one (1) set of grading notes for one (1) essay supplied to GOTM by the Customer. The Customer agrees that the Customer will provide GOTM with essay to be graded by electronic mail ("e-mail") and that the Customer will accept grading notes through the same medium of electronic mail ("e-mail"). The Customer agrees that GOTM may refuse service to the Customer or fail to provide service to the Customer at any time for any reason and that the Customer's sole recourse in the event of GOTM's refusing or failing to provide service to the Customer shall be for the Customer to apply for a refund according to the applicable refund policy. The Customer agrees that GOTM's liability is limited only to amounts paid to GOTM. The Customer agrees that the purchase is final except in the event of a refund and that refunds will take place as specified by the GOTM essay grading refund policy. The GOTM essay grading refund policy is that GOTM reserves the right not to refund a customer unless the customer applies for a refund in writing (which shall be taken to include electronic mail ("e-mail") to the user "sales" present on the domain name "goodsofthemind.com") and, additionally, the circumstances meet one or more of the criteria in which GOTM considers that a customer is entitled to a refund. GOTM considers a customer who has purchased essay grading services to be entitled to a full refund if the customer submitted an essay for grading and GOTM did not send a reply with grading notes within forty-eight (48) hours of receiving the customer's essay. GOTM does not consider any customer to be entitled to a refund under any other circumstances. In particular, GOTM does not consider a customer to be entitled to a refund in the event that the grading notes provided by GOTM are considered inadequate by the customer for any reason. In particular, GOTM does not consider a customer to be entitled to a refund in the event that the customer is unable to access the grading notes sent by GOTM to the customer due to technical problems with the customer's computing device or internet service provider ("ISP") or electronic mail ("e-mail") service provider. GOTM may still grant refunds to customers in other circumstances as GOTM determines that the circumstances warrant, but GOTM will do so at its sole discretion; according to the terms of this agreement, GOTM is not obligated to do so.

The unofficial short version of the fine print:

• Essay grading is generally not a refundable service. Once we've put the work to grade your essay, we're entitled to keep your money.
• You can obtain a full refund if we are unable to grade your essay for any reason.
• Please note that is an essay grading service, not an essay editing service. You will recieve an SAT-style grade along with a number of grammatical corrections and suggestions to improve the structure of your essay and essay-writing tips that apply specifically to your situation. You will not receive a polished rewritten version of your essay.

• After ordering, please send an e-mail to our contact address with the following information:
  • parent's full name
  • parent's e-mail address
  • student's full name
  • student's e-mail address
  • an attachment containing the essay. For a typed essay, please send in plain text (.txt), PDF (.pdf), Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) format. For a handwritten essay, please scan each page individually and send each page as a JPEG Image (.jpg) attachment. Depending on your scanner resolution, you may have to scale pages to 50% or even 25% to make the file size small enough to send through your e-mail provider.
• We will grade your essay and return the comments by e-mail with observations on:
  • grammar
  • construction
  • quality of ideas and examples used
  • suggestions for improvement
